General Questions

  1. What is Youth With A Mission? Top
Youth With A Mission is an international movement of Christians from many denominations dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. Also known as YWAM (pronounced "Why-wam"), our calling is to know God and to make Him known.

  2. What is the Global Target Network (GTN)? Top
The Global Target Network is a dynamic YWAM ministry seeking to mobilize Alumni and local churches into their God-given vision and destiny! The ministry is headed up by Los Angeles Base Director Dave Gustaveson and is backed by Loren Cunningham, John Dawson, YWAM Associates directors Peter and Donna Jordan, the University of the Nations and the YWAM Global Leadership Team.

  3. Why Global Target Network? Top
Our heart and purpose is to see alumni come into their calling as well as become Local Church Reps to be able to partner with the local church in developing local and global vision, effective leadership development and utilizing dynamic resources and tools to save needless duplication.

  4. How does the Global Target Network work? Top
We want to form alumni into teams in every city and area of North America. Former YWAMers will gather periodically for times of intercession, worship, strategizing and reporting of the great things God is doing. Alumni can serve their own church by setting up training programs, prayer movements, outreaches, urban and mercy ministry projects or anything else God may lay on their heart. We want to help alumni tap into their passions and unique gifts, as well as help them mobilize their local church to become a strong force for missions.

  5. Whom does the Global Target Network affect? Top
We are committed to working with YWAM alumni, pastors, and others who have a passion to transform their communities and the world for the kingdom of God. This would affect everyone from the prostitute downtown to the orphan in Africa.

  6. How can I be involved?  Top
    1. GTN CITY OR AREA REP- You need to have a heart for missions and a passion to help direct other Alumni into their specific target ministry and help them serve their own local church. You also need a willingness to periodically bring people together for a time of fellowship, fun, prayer and vision sharing (requires heart work, not hard work). On-the-job training will be provided from our office.

    2. LOCAL CHURCH REP– Help bridge local and global opportunities for your church and provide them with a host of resources to see their vision fulfilled. This could include anything from inspiring a greater missions and ministry vision to organizing an outreach or facilitating a Discipleship Training Course in your church. This may all be done while in school or on the job, but the important thing is you have a heart to see your church mobilized!

    3. TEAM MEMBER READY FOR ACTION– Fuel the fire of your specific vision and passion by linking with others in prayer, worship, fellowship, vision and destiny. Partner with others who share your vision and passion to impact a certain area or influence a specific sphere of society.

  7. Who are YWAM Alumni?  Top
Anyone who has been through a YWAM Discipleship Training School (DTS) or a School of Evangelism (SOE) before the days of DTS.

  8. What is a Discipleship Training School (DTS)/School of Evangelism (SOE)? Top
Discipleship Training Schools (DTS) aim to prepare messengers of the gospel, helping students to know God in depth. The goal is to form Christian character and establish Biblical relationships while developing a daily walk with God. This intensive Christian training course begins with an 11 or 12-week classroom phase followed by a typically 12-week outreach. The DTS is the entry-level program, which is required for anyone applying to work full time with YWAM International. From 1968 – 1974, the 14-month SOE was the entry-level school in YWAM.

  9. What is a Regional Coordinator (RC)?  Top
A person who oversees a number of Area/City Representatives.

  10. What is an Area/City Representative (ACR)? Top
The person that gathers and oversees all of the alumni in their local church roles and encourages them in their specific target. You need to have a heart for missions and a passion to help direct other Alumni into their specific target ministry and help them serve their own local church.

  11. What is a Local Church Rep (LCR)? Top
The alumni that are linked to their local church. Any student coming home from DTS can be commissioned to be a LCR.

  12. What is an A.C.T.S. Ministry Team? Top
    1. A group of Alumni and Associates that meet periodically with the Area/ City Representative (ACR).

    2. A group of people who have the same passion to impact their business or university.

    3. If a local church has more than one YWAM Alumni in it, we would appoint the most suitable Alumni to be the Local Church Representative (LCR) and the whole group would be an A.C.T.S. Ministry Team. In the near future, DTS students will automatically be enrolled in an A.C.T.S. Ministry Team, immediately following their DTS.

  13. Who is an Associate? Top
Someone who has not done a DTS but has participated in YWAM in some capacity be it Mission Adventures, Kings Kids, FEET Team, YWAM seminars and conferences, etc., and/or a non-alumni who has/is participating in an A.C.T.S. Ministry Team.
