Pastors/Church Leadership Questions

  1. What is the overall purpose of the Global Target Network? Top
To hasten the Great Commission’s fulfillment by partnering together. YWAM’s desire is to assist the local church with expertise in developing a long-term vision and strategy. We want to link committed churches like yours with key outreach targets locally and globally.

  2. Why is YWAM providing this Network? Top
To help others fulfill their vision. No one can win the world alone. The Body of Christ is rising as never before to the challenge of evangelizing the world in our generation. The Global Target Network wants to help leaders move forward in their God-given visions.

  3. How will this benefit my Church? Top
God is calling His church to become an army and develop a sense of destiny. The Global Target Network can help make it possible to transform a church of any size into a mighty army for God, impacting your local community and key outreach targets abroad.

  4. How does it work? Top
Any church, pastor, Bible school or Christian leader can contact their local GTN Representative or the national office. Information will be given on what to do next. It is our joy to serve you. Please look over the web site for more details.

  5. What is an Area/City Rep (ACR)? Top
The person that gathers and oversees all of the alumni in their local church roles and encourages them in their specific target. You need to have a heart for missions and a passion to help direct other Alumni into their specific target ministry and help them serve their own local church.

  6. What is a Local Church Rep (LCR)? Top
We want to commission YWAM alumni into being Local Church Representatives in their or another particular church, who will work with and help facilitate A.C.T.S. ministry teams in that church. Any student coming home from DTS can be commissioned to be a LCR.

  7. What is the role of a Local Church Rep? Top
The primary job of the Local Church Rep is to be the bridge (go-between) between the team and the church. The LCR must build relationships with the church pastor and leaders and in wisdom introduce resources that would help mobilize that church toward their mission vision. They may then be responsible for organizing and coordinating an event or program in that church, as the resource would suggest and at the pastor/leaders’ agreement.

  8. What are Open Door, Strategic, and Transformation Resources? Top
    - Open Door Resources (Level 1): These are simple and easy resources for a church to access and utilize. They range from full service outreaches for youth groups to drama kits and other creative arts resources.

    - Strategic Resources (Level 2): These can help a church to get involved in a host of ministries locally or globally. These resources require the Local Church Rep to coordinate together with the Area or City Rep.

    - Transformation Resources (Level 3): These are designed to help the church impact the community they target (local or global). Again, they require the area or city rep to work with the local church rep in developing a plan for the church they are working with.

  9. How can I get access to these resources? Top
You can download the Open Door Resources from the "Home" page of this site. For Strategic or Transformational resources please contact your Area/City Rep or contact the National Office.

  10. What is a Discipleship Training Course (DTC)? Top
The Discipleship Training Course is a laboratory of discipleship and evangelism for the young Christian. Based on practical principles, it is designed:

    1. To make disciples of Christ – equipped and experienced to effectively share their faith in the marketplace, neighborhood, community, nation, world and the spheres of society. This would also include effectively being an example in their local church.

    2. To provide a laboratory – a balance of training and application where young and committed Christians can “learn by doing.”

  11. How could a DTC help my church? Top
The ultimate purpose the DTC is to create a dynamic environment, which will produce students who are consumed with God’s heart and purposes for a hurting world. This should result in the development of leaders and people committed to become Kingdom workers, part-time or full. It is designed to be an integrated program into a larger plan to train and release leaders for the local church.

  12. What is the difference between a DTC and a DTS? Top
The DTC unlike the DTS is a course designed for use in the local churches. It is not a school run by YWAM although we will be available to help provide resources and provide guidance for staffing. The dynamic of having a DTC in a local church is that truth can be applied immediately into real situations. Though it won’t provide the life change of a regular 5-month full-time DTS, the strongest point is that the truth can be applied each day in real life circumstance.

  13. What is a 1-Day Strategic Planning Seminar? Top
It’s a one-day hands on seminar to assist pastors in vision, values, and leadership development and ministry implantation.

  14. How could a 1-Day Strategic Planning Seminar help my church? Top
GTN provides for the local church:

    1. Help in identifying strategic local and global outreach targets.

    2. Support in developing “hands on” training and outreach programs to help train mature leadership to accomplish these goals.

    3. Access to a host of time-tested resources, tools and programs to prevent needless duplication.

    4. Assistance in developing overall vision and strategy for the purpose of establishing clear and achievable God-given goals.
